WHO WE ARE
We are an international network of storytellers and story-mappers, based in Edinburgh (Scottish Storytelling Centre) and in Rome (Garden of Livia) established in 2014 dedicated to exploring and growing the fine art of storytelling and landscape narrative through education, live events, festivals, conferences, story mapping and travel.
Landscape narrative is a vital and under-realized asset that connects citizens to their local environment while also providing common resources, values and identities that transcend geographical and cultural borders. By seeing through the eyes of others we look anew at ourselves. Mapping landscape narrative visualizes our context and relationships. Stories in Place enhances and creatively communicates a shared experience of place.
THE POWER OF STORY
Stories are the essence of human experience; they generate a context for understanding other people. Stories bridge tangible and intangible heritage, making it meaningful and attractive, and facilitating transmission to the next generation.
In business stories generate a “unique selling proposition” which allows the customer to differentiate one product/service from its competition. Stories attract, engage, generate trust and loyalty (among co-workers, customers, the public). Especially in the age of globalization – where the idea of quality is marred by lack of transparency, stories certify geographic provenance
WHAT WE DO
We help people and organizations develop their story. We train people to tell their story and communicate it clearly to clients, staff, and the public. We map stories to visualize context and relationships between people, organizations, businesses and cultures. We promote storytelling and the places where stories originated and are told. We promote experiential story travel
