STORIES IN PLACE PROJECTS
Seeing Stories EU Project 2014
EU funded project 2014, “Seeing Stories, Recovery of Urban and Rural Narrative in Europe” involving Scotland, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Greece. We focused mainly on the use of live storytelling for recovering and promoting landscape narratives and resulting in the delivery of storytelling festivals in Edinburgh (2013 and 2014), Lisbon (2014), Florence (2014) and Aachen (2014). We explored new ways of engaging with places and helping building up a vision that embraces both the local and the European dimension.
Edinburgh Unesco City of Literature Trust 2014
In 2004, we approached UNESCO to form a global network of creative cities. Edinburgh became the world’s first UNESCO City of Literature, and designed the criteria for other cities to join the Creative Cities network, and help guide them in future. The Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature Trust is the operating name of the Edinburgh World City of Literature Trust.
Story Mapping-Storytelling Community, Portico di Romagna, Italy 2018
We are working with the Italian Storytelling Centre and the villagers at Portico di Romagna to map their mythical geography “In the wizard’s footsteps” (“Dal Mago in Poi”) and other landscape narratives projects.
Integrated Story Gardening Project “The Garden of Lemniscati” Rome 2015-2019.
Since 2015 we have been working, with Storygardenz on the production of the Lemniscati project for Villa Silj in Rome. This is a work of landscape narrative, and story branding, which combines 12 geo-located tales of history, legend, fairy tale and myth in an integrated work, with garden installations and a book “The Garden of Lemniscati”, which is also represents a a story mapping and story gardening manual.
Story Mapping-Storytelling Community in Rome 2017-2019.
With “Associazione Giardini delle Storie” and Storygardenz we have created a club (cenacolo) in which Roman people meet to narrate, map and explore their mythical geography.
Story Mapping-Storytelling Community in Scotland 2017-2019
We are working with the People’s Parish project to inspire and support creative neighbourhood projects in each of Scotland’s 871 civil parishes, connecting local stories, traditions and cultural memory with the distinct local voices, culture and creativity of our places today.
“Genius Loci” Story Branding Project in East Sussex 2019
We are working with Emerson College, East Sussex, in a research project – “Genius loci” – to find the core stories of the college and use them for understanding their dynamics, communication, promotion and publicity.
Folklore & Narrative Landscape Projects in Malta 2018-19
We are working with Lignin Stories and Giuliana Fenech in Malta on the following projects:
1. “Sansuna and the Carob Tree”. EU funded project, produced with Ziguzajg International Arts Festival for Children and Young People and the Malta Arts Fund.
2. “Here Where I Belong” funded by FEST, (Federation for European Storytelling) considers how natural landscapes are important part of cultural heritage. Partners from Malta, Norway, Italy, Slovenia and Hungary. Taking place in Malta, in March 2019.
“Racconti Di-vini” Project in Bertinoro, Italy, 2019
We are working to combine and integrate the two souls of the Bertinoro area, the Interfaith Museum (Museo Interreligioso) and local wine production. This is a case study project about territory promotion in collaboration with the local institutions and the Italian Storytelling Center.
Story-Branding Project Siena 2014
We developed a story for the estate Borgo di Castelvecchio Agriturismo. Tuscany, Italy. “The Tale of Incalibur” for experiential travel. This story also resulted in the creation of a new wine label “Un Millione di Passi”, in keeping with the spirit of the story.
